Dr Mika Jormakka, Head of the Structural Biology Group at Centenary Institute has been appointed as Conjoint Associate Professor at Sydney Medical School, The University of Sydney.
Mika is widely recognised as a leader in his field. He is deciphering and mapping the exact structure of proteins important in the development and progression of cancer so that drugs can be designed to alter or stop the function of these proteins.
“The University of Sydney is a national leader in medical sciences and I feel very honoured for the appointment,” says Mika. “The university offers opportunities for cross-disiplinary collaboration and is teeming with talented students, so it is thrilling to be part of such environment.”
Centenary is affiliated with The University of Sydney, and Mika’s unique expertise and facilities in structural biology will benefit the two institutes.
